Oropesa
Parador employee and chronicler José Manuel Gutiérrez Rodríguez has compiled an enormous amount of information and documentation about this and other events in the history of the castle, including the stay there of the Duke of Wellington at the time of the Battle of Talavera (another blow to French dreams).
The Parador has a curious attraction for feminists as its first director, from 1930 to 1965, Adela Páramo, was a woman, unusual in those days; (being director of a Parador, not being a woman!) and also, as another information panel testifies, the Parador hosted the first bullfight involving a female Matador, Conchita Citron.
Graham Greene and Somerset Maugham are among the illustrious travellers to rest their heads there.
