Set in the final years of the Ottoman Empire, the castle of San Fernando is one of the Spanish locations, as Christian Bale downsizes after his role as Moses in Ridley Scott’s Exodus.
The castle’s parade ground was paraded upon by drilling Turkish soldiers, serving also as the venue for their firing squads.
Filming took place there during December 2015, and the old arsenal, later a church that Dali would paint during his time there on military service, was used as a dressing room.
A false iron grille was left behind and is still in place.
