Although it forms part of the city wall, the Alcázar is a castle in itself, and from the battlements, grieving women throw petals down upon the funeral cortege of Manolete in the film’s final scenes.
When he is in Mexico, Manolete seems to have a vision of his own funeral as he dreams or daydreams the same scene.
Also in Carmona, the mansion of the Marques de San Martín was both Manolete’s patron’s office and the guest house where Manolete stayed, and the prison scene was shot at the Molino de Marruecos on the edge of town.
