Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña, Mijas
Some friars apparently were responsible for building the chapel upon this old castle in the 16th century.
The image of the virgin that lends its name to the monument was discovered in 1586, where it had been hidden to keep it out of the hands of the Moors.
Today little remains of the defenses, but as in the film there are beautiful gardens and a spectacular viewpoint to which you can ascend in donkey-taxi.
