Castilnovo
The castle, Arab in origin, was one of the prisons (for your own protection of course) of the French King Francois I after he lost the battle of Pavia in 1525.
In January 2015 it was put up for sale for a mere 15 million euros.
After a brief spell as a hotel, the castle is now used only for private functions, which makes it all the more mysterious behind those high, spiky padlocked gates..
