Eivissa Castle

Eivissa Castle is a group of buildings on a hill known as Puig de Vila. It used to be more spectacular with 12 towers.

The current castle, built upon older Arab remains was commissioned in the 16th century by King Felipe II. Construction began in 1554, and much later work began to convert it into a Parador Hotel, due to open in 2020.

There is a legend, that the castle was built with stones taken from the ruins of Atlantis, situated near the magnetically magical islot of Es Vedra.
