Casares
The legend states that Julius Caesar visited the town to cure a hepatitis in the medicinal waters in 61 BC, although the castle only dates back to the XIII century and, like most of Andalucia’s fortresses, is of Arab origin. In fact, the name Casares comes from the Arabic al-Qasr, meaning ‘the fortress’ or castle.
